WHY LABS MATTER FOR PrEP

PrEP refills depend on lab results. Missed labs mean lapsed patients.

CDC guidance calls for an HIV antigen/antibody test and an HIV-1 RNA test at least every 3 months on oral PrEP. Refills are written for no more than 90 days, until the next HIV test. Patients on injectable cabotegravir are tested before every injection, every 2 months. For telehealth PrEP, CDC says lab-only visits are “strongly preferred.”

Your lab partner has to deliver complete results on schedule, every quarter, for every patient. IHDLab is built for recurring, high-volume programs:

  • Panels configured to your clinicians' protocols

  • Collection options patients actually complete

  • Results in your workflow before the refill is due

Why 3-site testing matters for men

For LGBTQ+ men, CDC recommends STI screening at each site of exposure: throat, rectum and urine. In one study of men on PrEP, only about half had a rectal or throat swab at their last visit, and urine-only screening can miss most chlamydia and gonorrhea infections in this group. Easy self-collected swabs help your program close that gap.

WHO WE WORK WITH

Built for organizations running PrEP and men's sexual-health programs

Most PrEP users in the U.S. are LGBTQ+ men. Our panels and kits are designed around their care.

Telehealth PrEP providers

For platforms serving men nationwide or in California: quarterly panels for oral PrEP and bimonthly HIV testing for injectable PrEP, with results routed to your clinicians by API.

LGBTQ+ and men's sexual-health clinics

3-site testing for LGBTQ+ patients. Self-collected kits for patients who won't come in, and California draw sites for those who can.

Community health & health departments

Branded at-home STI programs, with opt-in aggregated reporting for grant and program reports.

Men's health & sexual-wellness brands

White-label STI kits under your brand, ordered from your app by your licensed clinicians.

Employers & benefits platforms

CDC-ALIGNED PANELS

PrEP and STI panels aligned with CDC guidance

Panels are configured to support your clinicians' protocols. Your ordering clinicians decide which tests each patient needs.

PrEP lab monitoring panels

Oral PrEP baseline: HIV Ag/Ab + HIV-1 RNA, creatinine/eCrCl, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, 3-site chlamydia/gonorrhea, lipids (F/TAF). Oral PrEP quarterly: HIV Ag/Ab + HIV-1 RNA, syphilis, chlamydia/gonorrhea. Injectable cabotegravir: HIV Ag/Ab + HIV-1 RNA every 2 months. Lenacapavir: HIV test before each injection.

COLLECTION OPTIONS

Collection your patients will complete

Illustration of one lab order fulfilled by an at-home swab and urine kit or a blood draw at a patient service center

Patients can give blood at one of our California patient service centers, self-collect urine and rectal and throat swabs with a branded at-home kit, or combine both under one order with one combined result.

HOW IT WORKS

How a PrEP program runs with IHDLab

In short: your clinician orders the panel, the patient collects at home or at a California PSC, our CLIA-certified lab in Irvine runs the tests, results post to your platform or portal, and reactive HIV results go straight to your clinical team with a confirmatory-testing protocol.

INTEGRATIONS

Circular workflow illustration: a partner platform ordes a test through the LabFlow API, the patient collects an at-home it or has a blod draw, the IHDLab laboratory runs the est, and secure results flow back into the partner's platform and EHR, with a clinician reviwing a results report

Results in your workflow, not another portal

  • LabFlow REST API for ordering, kit status and results delivery

  • Partner portal for teams that don't integrate, plus bulk kit orders for existing partners

  • Opt-in aggregated, de-identified reports on result rates and positivity

  • EHR connectivity

  • Business Associate Agreement available

WHY IHDLAB

Why PrEP and STI programs choose IHDLab

  • We are the lab. No aggregator or reseller sits between your patients and their results. We handle kitting, logistics, testing and results.

  • Your brand from start to finish. Generic IHDLab or fully white-labeled kits, with custom box printing and collection instructions.

  • Built for recurring programs. Panels mapped to oral and injectable PrEP schedules, with 3-site STI screening for men who have sex with men built in.

  • Billing options. Client billing, or insurance billing for eligible PrEP services. See accepted insurances.

  • Credentials. CLIA-certified (05D2040304), FDA-registered (FEI 3011213917), CA/NY/MD licensed.

READY TO LAUNCH YOUR PrEP PROGRAM?

Launch or scale your PrEP lab program

Tell us about the men your program serves: patient volume, oral or injectable PrEP, states served and how you'd like results delivered. A diagnostics specialist will map your panels, collection plan and integration.

Getting started is simple

  1. Talk to our diagnostics team about your patient volume, oral or injectable PrEP and the states you serve.

  2. We map your panels and collection plan, and connect results to your platform through the LabFlow API or the partner portal.

  3. Choose branded at-home kits, California PSC draws or both.

  4. Go live: your first patients are tested and results flow to your clinicians.
